Young riders from B.C., Alberta and Washington State converged on Chilliwack’s Heritage Park Aug. 27 to 29 for the Dressage Canada 2010 Youth Nationals and the Rising Stars Youth Dressage and Hack Challenge.

More than 120 equestrians aged 21 and under rode for glory and fun in four rings kept hopping with competitors all weekend.

The Rising Star Challenge is a youth-only show started seven years ago for riders in all levels of dressage (a sport sometimes dubbed “horse ballet”).

This year organizers took on the extra challenge of hosting the Youth Nationals.
