Democracy must triumph in the matter of water treatment. What should be done is to take a vote and let the majority rule. The same should be the case next time you go for surgery.
Don't accept what the surgeon says, go out to the waiting room and have everyone take a vote. That will make much more sense than by having decisions made by those who actually understand the subject at hand.
Let's have a majority vote on how to build bridges, what to do about traffic enforcement, and on and on. If we put the decision making power into the hands of those who actually know something, who knows what sorts of unpopular decisions might be made?
