A Chilliwack thief got nabbed last week stealing items out of a police bait vehicle . . . twice.

Justin Mark Havey has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of a prohibited weapon after he allegedly stole items out of an RCMP bait vehicle.

Havey was arrested by members of the Chilliwack Property Crime section of the Chilliwack Community Policing Office on May 8.

Havey allegedly entered the vehicle, stole some items, and then returned later to see what else he could steal.

“Although we won't disclose how many bait vehicles we have, I will say that we have a large fleet spread throughout the entire Upper Fraser Valley," said Cpl Brock Rayworth of the Chilliwack Property Crime Section in a press release. "The public would be quite surprised at just how many are bait vehicles out there. We want the thieves to think twice next time they are tempted to break into or steal a vehicle.”
