Hope RCMP are asking for the public's help to locate a man missing for more than a week.

Timothy James Rutherford was last seen on Aug. 24 around 1 p.m. at the Jones Lake pullout near Exit 153 in Hope. He was reported missing from his campsite on Aug. 29.

Rutherford is 46 years old, Caucasian, five-foot-one-inch in height, heavyset with shoulder-length brown hair and a brown/red moustache.

It is thought he left his campsite in his vehicle, a 1998 hunter green Ford Explorer with B.C. licence plate 542 WTP.

“We are concerned for Rutherford’s well-being," said RCMP spokesperson Const. Ashley St. Germaine. "The police have been advised by family and friends that this behaviour is out of character for him."

Contact with family and friends has stopped and Rutherford is experiencing "external stressors" that could be affecting him, according to police. He may also be in need of medical care.

Anyone with knowledge of Rutherford is asked to contact Hope RCMP at 604-869-7750, reference Hope File 2014-29457, or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
