Chilliwack businessman Yoon Bok Park was one of two B.C. entrepreneurs recognized with an award earlier this month for WelcomeBC Day-a day proclaimed by the provincial government to recognize exceptional contributions by B.C.'s immigrants and immigrant services.

Park, who immigrated from Korea, was singled out for the success of his sixth start-up company, Lucky 6 Industrial Co., which manufactures plastic bottles for medical supplements and supplies in Chilliwack.

Park renovated an industrial property here and worked with the municipality and suppliers to customize it for his business operation.

Since 2011, he has grown Lucky 6 into a successful business with future plans for expansion, and he is now prospecting for investment partners.

WelcomeBC was launched in 2007 by the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation to create a network of settlement programs and services across the province for newcomers and immigrants to access free language training, settlement and labour market services.

WelcomeBC Day was first proclaimed in 2010.
