One of Canada's leading performers, Alpha Yaya Diallo, leads off this fall's Chilliwack Community Arts Council's 2011-2012 concert series.
In addition to Diallo, this season's lineup includes The Sojourners, Ndidi Onukwulu, and Caladh Nua.
Diallo is a self-taught guitarist, singer and songwriter who is a true multicultural artist. His band, Bafing, features high-energy African rhythms, visually captivating dancers and a hypnotic percussion section.
Diallo's dextrous guitar-players, fluid melodies and compelling grooves make the excitement of his live show something not to be missed.
Next up is Vancouver-based gospel trio The Sojourners comprised of seasoned soul men Marcus Mosely, Will Sanders, and Ron Small. Each member's distinct vocals come together to breathe new life into classic tunes. With echoes of doo-wop, R&B, country and blues, their soulful harmonies will make you a believer.
Third in the lineup is Ndidi Onukwulu. Born of a Nigerian father and a German mother, Onukwulu's music explores a diverse range of sounds and styles. Her unique, sublime sound represents a distinctly Canadian experience to be savoured. Wrapping up the season is the traditional Irish band Caladh Nua, comprised of five musicians from three neighbouring Irish counties. The band's special repertoire and energy is guaranteed to capture audiences of all generations. Experience traditional Irish dance music and songs as well as more recently composed pieces, all creating the perfect balance between innovation and preservation of Ireland's wonderful music.
