The Ultimate Comedy Show is back for another side-splitting presentation at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre Jan. 26 at 7: 30 p.m.
This show sold out last year, was a huge hit and is hosted once again by the hilarious Roman Danylo.
"It's more than a show," Danylo says, with a straight face. "It's a euphoric interactive entertainment experience. If this show isn't the most amazing thing you've ever seen, then you watched it incorrectly."
This will be an evening packed with gut-busting improv, hysterical sketch comedy and entertaining standup routines. There is a little something for everyone as this crazy bunch of comedians tackle a wide range of topics and just plain have a blast up on stage.
Danylo, living up to his award-winning reputation with two Gemini nominations, a Leo award and appearances on Corner Gas, Comedy Now, Just for Laughs and Made in Canada, puts on a show that is sure to chase away those wintertime blues.
Gathering up some of the best comedy acts in the world, Danylo brings with him the comedy of Titmouse, Urban Improv, comedy rock music by Mirage and stand-up comedian Paul Bae for this show.
Titmouse is a Vancouver-based sketch comedy troupe that consists of members from Canadian Content, winners of the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Sketch Group, the stars of the CBC sketch comedy series The 11th Hour, and the Comedy Network series Sucker-punch. Having performed sold out shows in San Francisco, Chicago and a month-long run in London, England, Canada's comedy dream team has returned home to the land of poutine and health care (much needed because of all the poutine). The majority of the writing is done by Ian Boothby, who is the writer for The Simpsons and Futurama comic books and has won numerous awards including the Shuster Award, Harvey Award, Eisner Award, Jesse Richardson Award for theatre and a Canadian Comedy Award.
Get ready to rock, laugh and roll with a pair of rock stars you'll never forget, the world's greatest improvised rock 'n' roll band Mirage.
You'll love their British banter, egos, raw sex appeal and cool poses.
Band members David Milchard and Ken Lawson are seasoned comedy performers.
Standup comedian Paul Bae, a veteran high school English teacher by day and one of the premier headlining comedians in Canada by night, will have you begging for mercy with his side-splitting stand-up routine. Bae has appeared in many festivals, including Montreal's Just For Laughs and was also the host of the hit comedy news-panel show The CityNews List on CityTV.
As well, Bae is a regular voice and contributor on the hit CBC Radio and the TV series The Debaters.
Relying on the razor-sharp wit and lightning-fast reflexes of the comedians and using audience suggestions to fuel scenes, the show concludes with all the acts participating in an epic Urban Improv jam. A cutting-edge style of improv called "The Harold," fine-tuned by Urban Improv in Kitsilano over the past 13 years, and made famous in the clubs and theatres of New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, is performed as cast members reveal their unique style. Get ready to throw your suggestion out and buckle up for a fast paced, completely spontaneous finale as these guys let loose in an improv extravaganza.
