Gogos meet

The Chilliwacky Gogos meet Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Birchwood Retirement Home (45650 Patten Avenue). The Chilliwacky Gogos is one of more than 250 groups of grandmothers and "grandothers" across Canada who raise awareness, build solidarity and mobilize funds for Africa's grandmothers and the orphans in their care. All proceeds go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign which supports grassroots projects in 15 sub-Saharan African countries. Japanese pop culture

Join Raymond for Japanese pop culture madness Feb. 20 from 6: 30 to 8: 30 p.m. at the Chilliwack Library. Due to the content of the media discussed, participants must be at least 13 years old.

Language practice

Chilliwack Community Services and the Yarrow Library host free conversation circles every Thursday until April 25 from 6: 30 to 8 p.m. at the Yarrow Library for adults trying to improve their spoken English. Contact the library at 604-823-4664 for more information.

Healing journey

Fraser Valley Aboriginal Children and Family Services Society hosts a free two-day conference open to aboriginal people, caregivers and service providers of aboriginal children Feb. 21 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Promontory Community Church, at 9325 Main St. The theme, "Finding your way in your healing journey," is an opportunity to gain inspiration and support in dealing with family issues such as parenting, family structure, spiritual health, relationships, etc.

MS help

The MS Society of Canada hosts a self-help group the third Thursday of every month (Feb. 21) from 11: 30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the conference room at Decades, at 45846 Wellington Ave. The society also hosts a family members support group for caregivers and family members of those affected by MS on the third Saturday of every month (March 16) from 9: 30 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m. at St.

Self-healing talk

Mental health committee The Mental Health Advisory Committee meets the third Wednesday of each month (Feb. 20) in the multi-purpose room at the Health Centre, 45470 Menholm Ave., from 11: 30 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m. Family members and mental health clients are welcome. LGBT meeting

Tea and Dance

Wanda's Tea Dance, sponsored by the Seniors Resources Society, takes place the last Monday of each month (Feb. 25) from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lions' Hall, at 45580 Spa-dina Ave. Music by Sweetwater. Refreshments and door prizes. Tickets are $6.

Chair yoga

The Chilliwack Library hosts a chair yoga class Feb. 25 from 2 to 3 p.m. A trained yoga instructor will demonstrate yoga exercises that can be performed from a seated position. No special equipment is needed and the exercises will be modified according to participants' fitness needs.

Seniors art class

The Chilliwack Senior Resource Society is starting a beginner's watercolour class Fridays from 9: 30 to 11: 30 a.m. For more information, call the office at 604793-9979 or visit the Senior Resource Office at Evergreen Hall, at 9291 Corbould St.

Acoustic jams

Prayer shawl knitters meet

Senior rec centre activities

The Chilliwack Senior Recreation Centre, at 9400 College St., is open Monday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is something for everybody as the centre has a full kitchen, dance floor, pool tables, carpet bowling, cards and more. Pagans meet
