In an effort to maintain healthier moms and babies, Chilliwack General Hospital has launched a new public safety program.
Managing Obstetrical Risk Efficiently, or MOREOB, is a collaborative and comprehensive program focusing on patient safety, professional development and performance improvement for hospital obstetrics units. The program, which was originally developed by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) and is provided by the Salus Global Corporation, is now being offered at CGH.
The goal of the MOREOB program is to improve patient safety, and reduce clinical risk and events such as near misses and incidents.
The MOREOB program integrates evidence-based professional practice standards and guidelines with current and evolving patient safety concepts, principles and tools. The program uses a wide variety of materials and tools including on-line clinical content, workshops, skills and emergency drills and audits.
Fraser Health has had hospitals participating in the MOREOB program since 2005.
CGH is the sixth Fraser Health hospital in which the program has been introduced. Currently, there are approximately 500 health professionals participating in the program. By 2012, Fraser Health will have launched the MOREOB curriculum at every maternity unit.
