Local Mounties will look to arrest hunger Dec. 15 as the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP holds its fourth annual Stuff the Cruiser event Dec. 15 at locations throughout the Fraser Valley.
Police cars will be parked at three Over-waitea Foods locations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 15 in Chilliwack, with residents urged to fill them up with non-perishable food items and cash donations.
The cars will be at the Sardis Save-On Foods, on Vedder Road, at PriceSmart Foods downtown and at Cooper's Foods at Garrison Crossing. Cruisers will also be stationed at Super Valu in Agassiz from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All proceeds raised will go to the local food banks in the community to help support families in need this holiday season.
"This is our way of engaging the community in a positive way every year and it's an event that we all look forward to being a part of," RCMP spokesperson Const. Tracy Wolbeck said in a press release. "This event brings the police and the public together for a common goal and charity really tends to unify a community. We are really proud to be involved in this."
The needs of the food banks change from year to year. However, diapers, baby formula, canned fruits, vegetables and soups are always needed.
