Might as well add flouride

Editor:

I want to congratulate Fraser Health for ordering the chlorination of Chilliwack water. It's about time.

We don't really need an E. coli outbreak like Walkerton here before action is taken.

The warning signs are clear and distinct as Mr. Lem has pointed out. Time to act.

While the city is at it, maybe we should install fluoridation gear as well. After all, fluoride has been added to Toronto water since 1963 and is demonstrably effective in building stronger and more resilient teeth in young children. It's naturally present in water in Stratford, Ont., with notably positive results for tooth health for many generations which have grown up there.

Please, mayor and councillors, add 0.6 mg of hydrofluoroscilicic acid per litre-it really helps young children with parents can't or won't take them to see a dentist every year or so.

The supplying company is Brenntag; give them a call.

Once both chemical insertions are in place and working, then Chilliwack will only be 50 years behind the times. Small miracles still welcome hereabouts.

Craig McKie Chilliwack
