Wynne to tour tornado-damaged Angus

By The Canadian Press

ANGUS, Ont. - Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne plans to tour tornado damage this morning in the community of Angus, about 100 kilometres north of Toronto.

Residents of a central Ontario community ravaged by a tornado are being reunited with their pets while they wait for clearance to return home.

About 100 homes were damaged and three people injured late Tuesday afternoon when a twister swept though the town in Essa Township.

Residents have been asked to stay out of their homes while authorities assess the damage, and some have expressed frustration over the wait.

Essa Township officials say emergency crews have been fetching pets and key medications that residents left in their battered homes.

Township Mayor Terry Dowdall has said everyone is working as fast as they can to ensure people can go home.
