Three young Chilliwack drivers were issued large fines and had their vehicles impounded after street racing on Industrial Way recently.

Police say officers from the Chilliwack Municipal Traffic Unit arrived at Industrial Way and Cannor Road at about 9:10 p.m. on March 8 to find three Nissan 240SX vehicles travelling at high rates of speed,  performing drifts and 360 degree burn outs.

The three drivers, two aged 22 and one aged 24, were issued $368 tickets for driving without due car.

Their vehicles were then towed and impounded for seven days.

“These were the legal consequences of their unsafe behavior” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Len vanNieuwenhuizen said in the press release. “It is very fortunate that their dangerous and unsafe driving did not result in harm to themselves or innocent motorists in the area, a much more serious and permanent consequence to live with."
