Two Chilliwack trustees won't cross picket line for meeting

As weekend talks failed to resolve the current job action and teachers began a full-scale strike, School District 33 trustees held their regular meeting on Tuesday evening.

But two trustees, Dan Coulter and Barry Neufeld, were not at the meeting as they did not want to cross the picket lines set up in front of the school board office.

“Spent the night with Barry Neufeld respecting a picket line in front of the school district office,” Coulter wrote on his Facebook page. “I’ve committed to never crossing a picket line.”

The meeting went ahead with trustees Walt Krahn, Silvia Dyck, Heather Maahs, Doug McKay and Martha Wiens in attendance.
