A prison guard at an Agassiz prison has been charged with dealing drugs within the facility.
Paul Fleming, a 42-year-old Agassiz resident and correctional officer, faces two counts of drug trafficking.
Fleming is alleged to have trafficked marijuana and methamphetamine in Kent Institution, where he worked as a prison guard.
He was arrested Boxing Day morning while at work.
He appeared in court and was released on several conditions. He is scheduled to appear again Jan. 29.
"The RCMP and Correctional Service Canada have been working together throughout this investigation," said Cst. Tracy Wolbeck. "This partnership led to an arrest without incident and the two agencies will continue to work together as this case moves through the court system."
