Mounties say a downtown Chilliwack house behind police tape is being investigated for links to a "serious assault" Wednesday evening.

Police say a 28-year-old man "is in hospital with serious injuries" but are saying little else about the incident.

An older home in the 46100 block of First Avenue was ringed by yellow police tape Thursday morning.

"What we can tell you at this point in the investigation, is that police believe this was a targeted attack," RCMP Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth said in a press release. "Serious Crime investigators are working diligently to determine the motive behind the attack."
