Mounties believe the same man may be responsible for a pair of armed robberies Sunday.

Police say the first incident occurred around 2 p.m. just outside the Young Street Supermarket, at the intersection of Young Road and Lewis Street.

Police say the male suspect approached another man, produced what appeared to be a gun, and asked for money. He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Late that night, around 11:15 p.m., a man was withdrawing money from an ATM machine in the Scotia Bank on Yale Rd. when a man approached, produced a gun, and demanded money. Mounties say the victim was assaulted, and the robber made off with cash.

Police say the victim was uninjured in the assault.

"These calls are a very big concern to us," RCMP Const. Tracy Wolbeck said. "Anytime an offence is committed with what a victim believes to be a firearm, it becomes a huge priority for us to identify and arrest the person involved."

The suspect is described as six-foot-two, around 160 pounds and between 35 and 50 years old. He had grey or blonde hair with grey facial hair. The suspect was described as wearing a blue jacket with horizontal black stripes during the robbery outside the Young Street Supermarket. The suspect was described as wearing a blue and white, or blue and yellow, jacket during the ATM robbery.
