It was a bet Mountainview Harley-Davidson owner Dave Johnson was happy to lose.

Mountainview Harley-Davidson held a customer appreciation event on Nov 30 called "Men's Night." A large amount of attendees were members of the Fraser Valley HOG (Harley Owners Group) Chapter.

Rob Deverall, a customer, HOG member, and friend, was recently diagnosed with an advanced case of lung cancer. Deverall and some others are doing the "Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer."

Johnson issued his challenge to raise money for Deverall's team. He pledged to match all donations and further promised that if customers would donate $5,000 by Friday Dec. 7, he would shave his head.

In total, Johnson and the Hogs cut a cheque for $11,245 to The Ride to Conquer Cancer on Saturday. And Johnson is sporting a brand new shiny dome.

"This dealership has always been involved with cancer benefits," Johnson said, relating how both he and wife Lori have lost parents to the disease.

Johnson's best friend, Ross Allan, a Calgary resident, also succumbed to brain cancer on Friday, further bringing home the need to find a cure.

"We're just trying to bring awareness and funding to a disease that is hitting so many of us," he said.
