Chilliwack's Grey Area Gallery hosts a unique display next week produced by artists with brain injuries.
The Fraser Valley Brain Injury Association (FVBIA) uses art experiences to support rehabilitation for people with acquired brain injuries.
Members have worked under the guidance of local artists John LeFlock and Dawn Kerr, as well as professional photographer Stephan Baker.
Most recently, the group worked with LeFlock at Great Blue Heron Reserve's art studio.
"Participants have the opportunity to develop their skills and talent with a professional local artist through various drawing, photography and painting classes, and some beautiful pieces have been produced over the past five years," said Mary McKee, FVBIA art programs co-ordinator and case manager.
Since 1998, the FVBIA has provided a variety of services to people who have sustained an acquired brain injury. The organization seeks to empower people with acquired brain injuries to function as independently as possible through skill development and confidence building.
The FVBIA invites everyone to join in an evening with the artists for a "Celebration of Art" Nov. 21 at the Grey Area Gallery, 7408 Vedder Rd. Reception starts at 6 p.m. Evening ends at 8 p.m. Sponsored by the Rick Hansen Foundation and the Abbotsford Community Foundation through the "Pay it Forward" project. Call 604-557-1913 or email info@fvbia.org for more information.
? The "Celebration of Art" will be on display at Grey Area from Nov. 21 to Nov. 26.
