RV dealers and enthusiasts from all over the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley are gearing up for another humdinger of an RV sale at Heritage Park this week.
The 11th annual Chilliwack Humdinger RV Sale & Show rolls into town on a different weekend this year (April 19 to 22) and will feature a new-and-improved floor plan, but one thing hasn't changed.
"We focus on the actual dollars and cents," said Don MacDonald, founding director, past-president and director of marketing for the show.
"People are looking for a deal, and this is the sort of event that not only promises a deal but delivers it in a big way."
With 150,000 square feet of exhibits, the Humdinger is B.C.'s largest indoor RV show and gives window shoppers and hardcore RVers alike a chance to peruse all the latest models and accessories without having to brave the elements.
This year's event will feature 11 Lower Mainland dealers as well as 47 small booth vendors.
"You can get everything from a camper or pop-up tent trailer right up to a luxury bus," said Joan Jackson, the show's director and the executive director of the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association of B.C. "You can find something in everybody's price range."
RV enthusiasts at the show can also take in informative seminars, including a presentation by RV West Magazine's Duane Pilson, who will speak twice a day on traveling to Yukon and Alaska for the 70th anniversary of the Alaska Highway this year.
On Sunday, Pilson will give RVers tips on maintaining their water and waste systems.
Visitors will also get a chance to win the Humdinger's richest ever grand prize, a 18-foot Outdoors RV Back Country travel trailer donated by O'Connor RV in Chilliwack.
"That's neat and exciting," said Jackson. "We've never had a trailer before."
Another new addition to the show is a partnership with the Chilliwack Salvation Army and Go RVing Canada, who will be in the Heritage Park parking lot during the Humdinger challenging RVers to "fill the RV" for the local food bank.
Visitors who donate cash or a non-perishable food item will get $1 off their admission.
- The 11th Annual Chilliwack Humdinger RV Sale & Show at Heritage Park runs Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Saturday are date nights with two-for-one admission after 5 p.m. Admission is $7 and parking is free.
