Surrey Mounties say they've arrested a "Grinch" who claimed to be raising cash for the food bank.
The guy was last reported to be door knocking in Newton, in the neighbourhood of 126th Street and 67B Avenue, asking for donations for the BC Food Bank.
Cpl. Bert Paquet said police nabbed the guy about a block away after a woman complained. Paquet said the man was wearing a white tag with BC Food Bank Association written on it, but had no contact information for his alleged boss.
"As if not in enough trouble already, the male also provided a false name to the officers at the scene," Paquet said.
The 36-year-old Delta man was arrested for fraud and obstruction and is to appear in Surrey provincial court in January. His name has not been released.
