A Seabird Island man acquitted of sexual assault charges Monday morning won't be home for Christmas.

Judge Roy Dickey found Jarrod Thompson not guilty of sexual assault causing bodily harm and sexual assault with a weapon after a lengthy trial.

But Thompson will remain in custody until at least February for breaking the terms of a house arrest sentence stemming from a previous assault conviction.

Judge Russell MacKay suspended Thompson's conditional sentence order for four months, until Feb. 21, for breaching his conditions on Sept. 8 by having contact with his brother Gary, who had also been convicted in the previous assault, and by being on Seabird Island.

And while Thompson's four-month jail sentence for breaching his conditional sentence (which includes two months spent in custody) will end in February, he may spend even more time in behind bars.

MacKay also revoked Thompson's bail Monday as he awaits trial in connection with an incident that occurred that day on Seabird Island. Both Thompson brothers are charged with assaulting a woman during a house party.
