Right after going through the long and extremely expensive process of adopting a beautiful baby boy from Florida last year, Natalie Bilson was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
The cancer then moved from her breasts to her liver and she was given very little time to live by doctors.
She has since taken up a treatment-that seems to be working so far-which is not covered and costs $1,400 a week.
With her life savings spent, months of therapy ahead of her and, to add to it all, her husband gone, she is left to try to care for her three children, including her adopted baby Lucas.
Now friends and local businesses are working hard to help Bilson out with fighting the cancer and building a new life.
On Sunday, Oct. 20 Jim's Pizzeria and Spaghetti House is hosting a fundraising night with 10 per cent of all proceeds sold from either the Sardis (604-858-8611) or Chilliwack (604-793-9333) location going to help Bilson. That day Chilliwack tattoo artist Tattoos by Michele is also doing a fundraiser (which is already sold out), doing tattoos to raise money for Bilson. (Another tattoo fundraiser day may be in the works.). Anyone interested in following Bilson's journey or helping out can visit the Facebook page "Our Journey-Finding My Strong" or the website www.findingmystrong.myevent. com.
