CSS benefit Chilliwack secondary school music department holds the CSS annual Christmas Benefit Concert on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. in the CSS gym. This is the big Christmas show that features seven performing groups playing all Christmas and holiday music. Admission is a donation minimum of a Toonie or two canned goods. All proceeds are donated to the Salvation Army Food Bank. Every year this concert allows the music department to provide the largest single contribution to the CSS effort to provide food for Chilliwack families at Christmas.

The Vancouver Theatre-Sports League comedy team returns to the UFV Theatre in Chilliwack (on Yale Road, old campus) Sept. 21 at 7: 30 p.m. Using audience suggestions, TheatreSports' professional improv performers create hilarious improvised situation comedy that has audience members in stitches. Tickets are $18 regular and $14 for students and seniors. There will also be a special Theatre-Sports workshop, taught by the Vancouver professionals, in the UFV Theatre at 3 p.m. on Sept. 21. Gallery 7 Theatre will hold open auditions for an adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility Sept. 5 at 6: 30 p.m. in the MEI Theatre in Abbotsford. The production, the first in Gallery 7's "Theatre for Life!" season, features up to six men and seven women, offering talented and dedicated performers a great opportunity to stretch their acting abilities. The audition is open to all male and female performers ages 16 to 60. Rehearsals start Sept. 10 and will run Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 10 p.m. as well as two Saturday rehearsals. Show opens Nov. 2.
