Two residential properties in Rosedale were rezoned as commercial parking by city council at last Tuesday's meeting in the next step of Tycrop Manufacturing's expansion plans.
And while there has been considerable community opposition to Tycrop's plans, council hoped the rezoning would alleviate some neighbourhood concerns over that issue.
"I think this is a step that Tycrop should be congratulated for, for listening to the com-munity and trying to bring forward something that works," Mayor Sharon Gaetz said.
Roger Tweedle who lives next door to one of the properties was the only person to address council about his concerns.
"Tycrop . . . has taken up all the industrial component of the village space and is now entering the village itself with the apparent goal of taking out an entire block of quality family homes," Tweedle said.
The two properties, 51360 and 51390 Yale Rd., are directly east and west of the Mercer House, a 1902 farmhouse that the company also owns and has offered to give away if it can be moved.
