Re: Historical Arms Society of B.C. Gun & Antique Show held March 9 at Heritage Park.
Ron Tyson, president, and the executive of the Historical Arms Society of B.C. (HACS) would like to express our thanks to the people of Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley for supporting our two-day firearms and antique show held at the Heritage Park location in Chilliwack.
The show was comprised of firearms, antiques, militaria and sundry other displays and was spread out in both main buildings utilizing 575 tables. During the two days in excess of 7,000 people attended and all manner of items were purchased.
As usual, and at all of our shows, safety, training, and adherence to all aspects of Canadian firearms laws were strictly adhered too.
Familiarization courses were provided to new shooters as well as families who were attending the show for the first time. Representatives from both municipal and provincial enforcement agencies were in attendance.
HACS supports the following charities by providing cash donations. Donations to these charities in 2012 amounted to: CKNW Orphans Fund $5,000, the B.C.
Cancer Society $12,000, as well as the Vancouver Police Museum $2,000, and the Canadian Military Education Museum in the amount of $2,000, for a total of $21,000.
In addition, HACS also supports the NFA as well as Canadian Shooting Sports Association.
Exhibitors and displays came from across western Canada and the U.S.
Parking for the event was handled by St. Mary's school students and parents and was paid by donation. It is estimated that donations exceeded $7,000, which went directly to St. Mary's.
This was the sixth annual show and was the largest and most successful show to date.
Thank you to our organizers and volunteers. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the community and continue to grow into the future. For further information on HACS please see our web page at www. hacsbc.ca.
