After two successful events drew dozens of people to local businesses, the organizers of Cash Mob Chilliwack are upping the ante in a big way.
For their third Cash Mob, Dale Johnson and Scott McVetty hope to amass a crowd of thousands in order to sell out this Saturday's Chilliwack Chiefs game.
"This is the big one," Johnson told the Times. "We went from 70 people to 90 people, and now we want to go to hopefully 5,000."
With Christmas approaching, Johnson said it would have been tough to gather people together and then ask them to plunk down $20 at an unfamiliar store at a time budgets are already feeling the strain. Instead, Johnson said he and McVetty thought some entertainment was in the offing.
"We just want to get people out there having a good time," Johnson said. "Our ultimate goal would be to set a record for attendance ever in Chilliwack."
