The G.W. Graham senior girls basketball team launched their post-season with a bang Friday, defeating the Abbotsford Panthers 63-38 in front of raucous hometown fans.

The AA Grizzlies went into the game league champions with a 9-1 regular season record and an honourable mention in B.C. rankings.

The win puts them into the championship round of the Fraser Valley Championships at Holy Cross in Langley this week.

First up, the girls will face hosts Holy Cross Thursday at 3 p.m.

In triple-A action, the Chilliwack Storm finished the regular season 3-8 and will be in tough to advance further.

Their first playoff game was Monday night against Fleetwood Park in Langley, but no score was available by press time.

Single-A Unity Christian, meanwhile, finished fourth in league play with a 4-6 record.

Their playoffs kicked off Monday with a game against B.C. Christian academy (no score by press time).

A win would put them up against firstranked Southridge Friday.
