Olafson, Gibson heat up the pool

 

 
 
 

Chilliwack's Carson Olafson won six medals, while teammate Jessie Gibson brought home five pieces of metal from one of the biggest swim meets in the province last weekend in Victoria.

Olafson, Gibson were two of seven swimmers with Chilliwack's Spartan Swim Club competing at the BC AAA Championships on Sunday.

Olafson won three silvers, three bronze medals and added a fourth-place finish for good measure. Olafson, who swam in the 15-year-old boys division, finished third in the 200-and 400-metre freestyle events along with the 100-metre butterfly. His bronzes came in the 100-metre backstroke and freestyle races, along with the 1,500-metre freestyle. He finished fourth in the 200-metre backstroke.

Gibson also claimed three silvers, in the 100and 200-metre butterfly races and 100-metre freestyle. Gibson, swimming in the 15-yearold girls class, also claimed bronze medals in the 200-metre individual medley and the 200metre freestyle.
