The first round of the battle of Chilliwack went to Sardis secondary last Friday when crosstown rivals CSS and Sardis faced off in AAA senior boys basketball action.
The game was close until the third quarter when the Falcons' Eric Rogers started hitting three-pointers-five in all by the final buzzer.
The score was 60-46, with Rogers contributing 31 points and teammate Hayden Lejeune pitching in 13 with 10 rebounds.
The Falcons Josh Enns was tough on defence, holding the Storm's top scorer Gary Mcrae to just 14 points.
Chilliwack will be looking for revenge when the two teams meet again Feb. 9 at CSS. Tipoff is at 7: 30.
In league play, Sardis was looking to solidify their hold on first place in Fraser Valley East Tuesday with a win over Yale secondary, but it was not to be.
Despite a two-point lead at half time, the Falcons went down 82-59 after the Lions turned up the heat with 12 three pointers in all.
Lejeune score 31 points for Sardis. The Falcons are now 3-1 in league play.
