The Sardis secondary senior boys basketball team is headed to the provincial championships for the first time in its 80-year history.
The Falcons earned a provincial berth by defeating Lord Tweedsmuir in a do-or-die game at the Fraser Valley Championships Thursday and now play two more games to determine seeding at the BC championships this month.
Sardis was led by Grade 11 stars Eric Rogers with 27 points and Hayden Lejeune with 17.
Grade 12 Devin Brandreth, meanwhile, put up 13 big points after he came off the bench and "played like it could have been his last game," according to Falcons coach Kyle Graves.
Graves also singled out the "warrior-like" play of Brandreth's fellow seniors Jason Kroeker, Jordan VanDrimmlen and Mike Gregory.
Sardis now takes on Terry Fox at the Langley Events Centre Friday at 2:30 p.m.
A win would put them in a game for fifth place against either Enver Creek or Pitt Meadows Saturday at 4:15 p.m.
The provincial AAA championships run March 12 to 16 at the Langley Events Centre.
