The Chill-Air polar bear, a Yale Road West icon, migrated a little farther down the road as the air conditioning and heating company moved shop to 44125 Yale Road W. recently.
Moving the Chill-Air polar bear wasn't a simple task and required a low-bed truck, a crane and a few helping hands. Many thanks went to Mainland Crane and Dan Sawatzky's Imagination Corporation, for all their amazing care and attention making the polar bear's move a successful experience.
The polar bear was at the old location of Chill-Air for about five years. It weighs approximately 2,000 pounds and is made of steel mesh and concrete.
Sawatzky is the man behind the creation of the polar bear, and he says it was the only creation he has ever dropped, and that happened during the first move. Sawatzky said he broke all four legs and had to rebuild the polar bear.
Chill-Air provides installation and full service commercial refrigeration, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), ice machines, geo-thermal systems, and hot water tanks.
