Agassiz RCMP have found Harriett and Friday, two missing dogs whisked away when a thief stole a dog-walker's truck Tuesday in East Vancouver.

Panic was the name of the game after the brazen thief stole a Creature Comforts Pet Care Service pickup and made off with the dogs.

After a widescale search prompted by blanket media coverage, the good news came via a Facebook post Wednesday morning declaring that all is now well.

"FOUND - Harriett and Friday have been located by RCMP inside the truck where it was abandoned in Agassiz!" came the exultant Facebook post. "We are overjoyed and overwhelmed with appreciation for everyone's help! Thank you!"

The van was stolen in Vancouver on Tuesday afternoon with four dogs inside.

Two of the four dogs, Harley and Punk, were found nearby soon after, uninjured and sitting under a tree.

The dog walker, Amy Vilis, posted Facebook instructions to the dognapper on how to hand over the two remaining dogs.

"To the man who stole our truck and dogs: We just want the dogs safe," wrote Vilis. "Please leave them in a completely fenced-in area (such as a tennis court) and let us know the location. No questions asked."

Vancouver Police Sgt. Randy Fincham was happy to report the find "following a search for the pilfered pooches."

"Shortly before 11 this morning, the pickup truck was located in Agassiz and the two outstanding dogs were found unharmed inside the truck." Fincham said.

"Police are continuing their search for a suspect."

Anyone with information about the stolen pickup truck is asked to phone Vancouver police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
